Job Purpose
To support SeaGrown’s mission to lead the UK Ocean Health industry by growing sustainable seaweed and shellfish to promote healthier oceans and a better planet. A key member of a best-in-class Marine team which provides the infrastructure for SeaGrown's aquaculture site. Part of the day-to-day team that delivers the deployment and maintenance of marine assets plus supporting essential science work at sea.
Flexibility and a proactive attitude are essential.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the operation, preparation and maintenance of all SeaGrown vessels to ensure appropriate readiness levels. Participate in deck operations on Seagrown and third-party vessels as required.
- Rigging, deployment and recovery of marine / scientific / aquaculture equipment.
- Adherence to all company safety protocols including wearing appropriate PPE, conducting toolbox talks and following authorised procedures.
- Proactively seeking a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Supporting the wider team with the continuous improvement of SeaGrown deck operations.
- Other installation and maintenance tasks for SeaGrown assets as required.
- Other duties as reasonably required by SeaGrown management. Inter-departmental support and training will be provided as required.
Person Specification
Skills & Qualifications - Essential
- Valid ENG1 medical
- All elements of basic STCW safety training
- Innovative, with strong problem-solving skills.
- IT literate and ability to learn new systems.
- Full Driving License
Skills & Qualifications - Desirable
Experience & Knowledge - Essential
- Previous experience on a working deck
- Interest in the marine environment and how SeaGrown can enhance it.
- Experience maintaining marine equipment.
- Slinger and Bankman certificates
Experience & Knowledge - Desirable
- Scientific sampling experience.
- An interest in and understanding of marine biodiversity and sustainability
Personal Qualities - Essential

Hours of work
Full time, up to 40 hours a week including evening, weekend and overnight work. Whilst at sea the UK Hours of Rest regulations will be observed in accordance with MSN1877(M).
This role is a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and/or become permanent.
