Role Purpose
The Head of Finance will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the financial operations of Roffey Park Institute and its subsidiaries. They will provide financial leadership, ensuring the organisation's financial sustainability, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective financial planning and reporting. The Head of Finance will work closely with senior management and the Board of Trustees, contributing to the organisation's strategic objectives.  Acting as a ‘critical friend’ to members of senior management, the Head of Finance  will challenge performance, identifying opportunities and risks for operational management.  

Scope of Role

The Head of Finance is responsible for the financial operations associated with all Roffey Park businesses, supporting key leaders in effectively managing  their revenues, margins and costs to maintain and optimise profitability, providing effective financial leadership from strategic planning to compliance and financial reporting.

Accountable for:

 Financial Strategy and Planning:
· Developing and implementing the financial strategy aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives. 
· Overseeing the annual budgeting process (within the overall business planning process), ensuring realistic and accurate financial forecasts, taking account of risks and opportunities and their potential impact.
· Providing strategic financial advice and guidance to the senior management team and the Board of Trustees. 
· Developing the Financial Framework to deliver the long-term financial objectives of the business.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:  
· Ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and other reports as required. 
· Maintaining compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards, including the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC 
· Liaising with external auditors and overseeing the annual audit process. 
· Implementing an international transfer pricing policy to ensure that UK and overseas entity financial reporting reflects the true operating profit reporting to facilitate performance management. 

Financial Management and Control: 
· Establishing and maintaining effective financial management policies, procedures, and internal controls. 
· Monitoring and analysing financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
· Managing cash flow, investments, and banking relationships to optimise financial resources. 
· Supporting programme delivery teams monitoring the profitability of commercial contracts.  

Team Leadership and Development:
 
· Leading and motivating the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement. 
· Providing guidance and support to staff members regarding financial processes, policies, and compliance.

Notes

Person Specification - Essential Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior finance role, preferably within both the charity and commercial sectors
• Proven experience as a Head of Function
• Hands on approach with the motivation to work with imperfect systems and processes to provide management information to enable effective performance management
• Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulatory requirements in the UK.
• Demonstrable experience in financial strategy development, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights to support decision-making.
• Proficient in financial systems and software, including accounting software SAGE Intacct and MS Excel.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to inspire and develop finance professionals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• High level of integrity, ethics, and a commitment to the goals and values of the organisation

Desirable Criteria

• Knowledge of Salesforce, Yoov and/or other CRM and finance systems would be an advantage.
