Job Summary
The Engagement and Communications Senior Manager within the People and Culture (P&C) team is responsible for the development and delivery of Opera’s employee engagement, listening, internal communications and culture initiatives. Working closely with the Chief People Officer and the P&C team, this role translates engagement strategy into practical, high-quality experiences, communications, and insights across the employee lifecycle.
The role provides operational leadership for the delivery of engagement and communications initiatives, partnering with the Chief People Officer on strategic direction and priorities
Key Responsibilities
Employee Engagement & Listening
• Execute and manage Opera’s continuous listening cycle, supporting both formal (engagement surveys, pulse surveys) and informal (listening groups, feedback sessions) mechanisms.
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of engagement surveys, including vendor coordination and support for any relevant accreditation processes
• Coordinate the collation, communication, and tracking of engagement results and action plans, supporting leaders to understand and act on insights.
• Chair the quarterly Global Sports and Social committee, providing guidance for annual planning, budgeting and sharing best practices across local sports and social teams
• Deliver engagement and communication campaigns that reinforce cultural priorities and support adoption across Opera
• Execute internal campaigns that promote organisational priorities, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and employee recognition.
• Identify and leverage digital and AI-enabled tools to improve communication effectiveness, employee engagement, content creation, and reporting efficiency.
Ways of Working & Culture
• Support the rollout and ongoing engagement of Opera’s values and ways of working.
• Ensure engagement and communication approaches are locally relevant while maintaining consistency with Opera's group culture and values.
• Work closely with the P&C teams to guide the curation of communications for key employee lifecycle moments, including onboarding, promotions, performance cycles, and leavers.
• Support the promotion of learning and development initiatives through targeted communications.
• Deliver alumni initiatives where appropriate.
Intranet & Content Management
• Curate and manage the People & Culture intranet pages, ensuring content is up to date, well-structured, accessible, and aligned with employee needs.
• Own internal distribution lists working with the P&C team to ensure updates are in real time
• Coordinate and provide guidance to content updates to contributors
Manager & Leader Communication Support
• Support communication and engagement activities associated with organisational change, business integration, and transformation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain practical communication toolkits and templates for managers to support self-service
• Provide ad hoc support for leaders as required for internal projects
• Partner with the Commercial team to ensure alignment of messaging and tone internally and externally.
Data, Insights & Reporting
• Track and report on employee engagement metrics, including survey results, pulse data, and quarterly Net Promoter Score (NPS).
• Produce clear and actionable engagement and communication reports for senior stakeholders.
• Identify trends and insights from data to inform continuous improvement of engagement activities.
• Support P&C leadership with insight-based recommendations, while focusing on execution of agreed actions.

• Proven track record within a multi-jurisdictional or global organisation.
• Experience supporting culture, engagement, and ways-of-working initiatives.
• Experience delivering employee engagement programmes, campaigns, surveys, and events.
• Experience creating and managing content across multiple communication channels.
• Experience building effective partnerships with People teams, leaders, and communications stakeholders.
• Background in employee engagement, HR, internal communications, or marketing.
Desirable Experience
• Exposure to engagement data, reporting, or metrics, with the ability to turn insight into practical actions.
• Familiarity with employee engagement platforms, survey tools, or accreditation processes
• Experience supporting performance, reward, or learning communications.
