Duties & responsibilities
- To aid the inclusion of disabled children and young people in outdoor and indoor sports activities alongside their non-disabled peers.
- Plan, adapt, and deliver inclusive sports activities for disabled and non-disabled children and young people.
- To adhere to Parasol’s Policies & Procedures & take part in relevant training courses.
- To work with and support named disabled children and young people in small groups within Services run by Parasol or other organisations Parasol is working in partnership with.
- To observe confidentiality in your work for Parasol. To work as part of a team, to attend session briefs/debriefs & weekly team meetings and appraisals when instructed.
- To adhere to the rules and procedures in settings in which Parasol works.
- To be responsible for the safe keeping of any Parasol equipment used.
Person Specification - Essential
- Commitment to working in an inclusive setting.
- Ability to communicate with children and young people.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to act on their own initiative to plan and deliver sports activities.
- Good knowledge of various appropriate sports activities for children and young people.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to prioritise, plan, adapt, and make decisions to deliver successful activities.
- Good time management.
- Applicants must be suitable to work with children and young people.
Person Specifications - Desirable (Non-Essential)
- Leadership and motivational ability.
- Previous experience in working with children.
- Previous experience coordinating adaptable sporting activities.
- Proven examples of activity planning and delivery.
- First Aid Qualification.
- DBS registered for update service.
- Safeguarding qualification and training.
- Previous experience or studies related to sport, childcare, social care, or related fields.
- Lifting and Handling qualification and training.
- Disability Equality qualification and training.
