Join Us as a Trustee to Help Shape Outstanding Hospice Care
Warrington, Cheshire (unpaid voluntary role)
If you’re as passionate as we are about access to high-quality palliative and end of life care, then we’d like to hear from you. We are seeking Trustees to join our Board to help guide the strategic direction and financial sustainability of our hospice, and to help continuously improve the impact of our services. Trustees play a vital role in ensuring that our community receives compassionate and accessible care when it matters most.
About the Hospice
St Rocco’s exists to support people in the Warrington diagnosed with an illness that is no longer curable. We look after people over the age of 18 years with life-limiting illness, and we support their families and loved ones.
Our services are free of charge, and personalised around the needs and preferences of our patients and those important to them. Our care is holistic, focussed on physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. We work closely with partner health and social care professionals so that the services we provide are the best they can be, to help our patients achieve their personal priorities of care. As a charity, we rely heavily on donations and fundraising to help us deliver our care.
The Role
As a Trustee, you will:
- Contribute to the strategic leadership and long term planning of the hospice.
- Ensure strong governance, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as an ambassador for the hospice within the community.
- Support our mission to provide dignified, compassionate end of life care for all who need it.
This is a voluntary role requiring commitment, integrity, and a willingness to work collaboratively with fellow Board members and senior leaders. Whilst unpaid, we know our Trustees are rewarded by the knowledge that they play a significant role in helping provide compassionate care, when people need it most.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from a wide range of professional backgrounds. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:
- Clinical or healthcare leadership.
- Legal or governance expertise.
- Retail, fundraising, or commercial strategy.
- Finance, audit, or risk management.
- Community engagement or lived experience of hospice care.
Due to Trustee retirements as they come to the end of their maximum terms, we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a legal or governance background who may be interested in taking up the role of Company Secretary.
We value diversity and encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
Time Commitment
Trustees typically attend quarterly Board meetings, subcommittee meetings, and occasional strategic events. Preparation time is also required.
