Salary: £24,785 per annum 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including home matchdays, evenings and weekends

Role summary
Cambridge United is looking to recruit an Assistant Grounds person who is a member of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).
The role will be to assist in the maintenance, preparation, and presentation of high-quality playing surfaces and grounds for all football activities. The role supports the delivery of professional-standard pitches for matches, training sessions, and club events while maintaining safe, clean, and well-kept surrounding areas.

Key job outcomes
• Mowing, line marking, divoting, aeration, brushing, scarifying, and irrigation activities
• Support in pitch renovation works (reseeding, top dressing, overseeding etc.)
• Maintain surrounding grounds including pathways, spectator areas, car parks, and artificial surfaces
• Ensure all outdoor areas remain clean, safe, and free from hazards
• Operate groundskeeping equipment (mowers, tractors, line markers)
• Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on all machinery
• Prepare pitches for fixtures and training, marking, set-up, and presentation
• Applying such chemicals as needed under the direction of the Grounds person
• Provide in-game support and post-match repairs and clean-up
• Support seasonal, high-demand periods such as pitch renovations and congested fixture schedules
• Ensuring that all Health & Safety requirements are met at all times
• Any other duties as required

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience Required/Desireable
• Member of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA)
• Operate unsupervised both hand-operated and powered cutting machinery
• Ability to use tractor-drawn gang mowers without damaging either the mowers or the surface
• Knowledge of turf culture, machinery and maintenance
• Ability to service machinery
• Previous work as a ground's person
