Conduct in Sport Panel Member
 
Cricket Scotland is seeking individuals to join its Conduct in Sport Panel. 
 
Conduct in Sport Panel members play an important role in maintaining the integrity and reputation of the game by considering complaints and alleged breaches of Cricket Scotland regulations.
 
Panel Members will be asked to review information, participate in hearings where required, and contribute to balanced and well-reasoned decisions in line with Cricket Scotland’s disciplinary policies and procedures.
 
Knowledge and Experience
To be considered for appointment to the Conduct in Sport Panel, you should possess the following knowledge and experience:
  • An understanding of the importance of integrity, fairness and accountability within sport or organisational governance.
  • Experience of reviewing information, evidence or complaints and forming balanced and reasoned conclusions.
  • Experience working within governance, regulatory, disciplinary, legal or investigatory environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • An understanding of cricket or sport governance would be beneficial, although this is not required.
 
Skills and Competencies
To be considered as a Panel Member you should be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
  • Ability to assess information and evidence objectively, determine matters of fact and apply relevant Cricket Scotland regulations when considering alleged rule breaches.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement when considering complex or sensitive matters.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills, with the confidence to ask appropriate questions and contribute constructively to panel discussions.
  • Ability to engage respectfully with participants from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations appropriately to specific circumstances.
  • Ability to act impartially and independently, recognising and managing potential conflicts of interest where appropriate.
  • Understanding of the importance of handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other panel members to reach balanced and well-reasoned decisions.
  • Reliable and professional in approach, ensuring appropriate preparation for hearings.

Time Commitment
Panel members will be required to review case documentation and participate in hearings as required throughout the year. The time commitment will vary depending on the number and complexity of cases received.
 
Panel members should expect to:
  • Review case documentation and evidence in advance of hearings.
  • Attend hearings which may take place virtually or in person.
  • Participate in panel discussions and decision-making following hearings.
 
While the number of cases varies each year, panel members should anticipate a flexible commitment of several days per year depending on the number of matters requiring consideration.
 
Terms of Appointment
  • Panel members will be appointed for a fixed term of three years.
  • Panel members may be eligible for reappointment following the completion of their term.
  • Panel members will be expected to declare any conflicts of interest in relation to cases they are asked to consider.
  • Training and guidance on Cricket Scotland’s regulations and disciplinary procedures will be provided where required.
