Cricket Scotland is inviting Expressions of Interest from cricket coaches who would like to be considered for Regional Head Coach and Assistant Coach roles within our Men’s Regional Cricket programme.
These roles will support the delivery of competitive regional cricket and contribute to the development of players within Scotland’s performance pathway.
We are recruiting for the following regional teams:
- Caledonian Highlanders
- Eastern Knights
- Western Warriors
- Eagles and Stormers
Applicants may express interest in Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or both roles, and indicate a preferred region.
There are 6 roles available across the men's programmes and 4 within the women's.
Programme Overview

25, 26 and 28 August
Additional planning meetings, squad preparation sessions and training dates may also be scheduled in advance of competition fixtures.
Role Purpose
Regional coaches play an important role in creating a high-performance environment aligned with Cricket Scotland’s strategic objectives.
Working closely with the Cricket Scotland Performance Department, coaches will support player development, contribute to squad preparation, and help deliver competitive regional cricket.
Across both roles, coaches will contribute to:
- Supporting match-day performance and preparation
- Contributing to player selection discussions
- Collaborating with the Cricket Scotland Performance Department on squad planning and player development
- Creating an environment that promotes professionalism, development and competitive success
Head Coach – Key Responsibilities
The Head Coach will lead the regional team environment and provide overall direction for performance and culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading all aspects of team performance and culture
- Planning and delivering training sessions aligned with performance objectives
- Contributing to selection processes in collaboration with the Cricket Scotland Performance Department
- Managing match-day strategy, tactics and decision-making
Providing leadership and direction to Assistant Coaches and support staff
Contributing to player reviews, feedback and development planning
Assistant Coach – Key Responsibilities
Assistant Coaches will support the Head Coach in delivering a high-quality performance environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of training sessions
- Assisting with match-day preparation and in-game support
- Contributing to player development and feedback processes
- Supporting team operations, logistics and communication
- Helping maintain a positive, professional and high-performance team environment
Essential Criteria
Head Coach
- ICC / ECB Level 3 Coaching Qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience coaching within a performance or high-performance environment
- Strong understanding of match strategy, player development and team culture
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and inspire players and staff
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary performance team
Assistant Coach
- ICC / ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting coaching programmes in a club, regional or performance setting
- Good understanding of the game and player development principles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching and performance team
Desirable Attributes (Both Roles)
- Experience within talent pathways or representative cricket
- Understanding of performance planning cycles
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Passion for developing players and contributing to Scottish cricket
Fees
Coaches will be engaged on a daily rate basis for preparation, training and match days.
- Head Coach: £175 per day
- Assistant Coach: £150 per day
These rates are inclusive of rolled-up holiday pay.
