Role summary
The U9s–U16s Casual Therapist at Cambridge United F.C. plays a vital role in supporting the physical health, wellbeing, and development of academy players across the Foundation and Youth Development phases. Working on a sessional basis, the therapist delivers high-quality assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services during training sessions and matchdays, ensuring players receive safe, effective, and age-appropriate care.
The role involves injury assessment and management, pitch-side first aid and emergency response, injury prevention strategies, and contributing to individual rehabilitation programmes in line with the club’s medical and performance philosophy. The therapist works closely with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist, coaching staff, and multidisciplinary team to promote player welfare and long-term athletic development.
This position requires a strong understanding of paediatric and adolescent sports injuries, excellent communication skills when working with young athletes and parents, and a proactive approach to safeguarding and welfare standards in line with EPPP and FA guidelines.

Key job outcomes
• Provide pitch -side first aid and acute injury management during training sessions 
• and matchdays.
• Assess, treat, and rehabilitate injuries in accordance with club protocols.
• Monitor and support the return -to-play process for injured players.
• Liaise after all training sessions and matches covered with the Lead Academy 
• Sports Therapist to communicate all clinical decisions, player statuses, and 
• ongoing treatment plans.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date medical notes and injury records following all 
• assessment, treatment and/or intervention either by sending these to the Lead 
• Academy Sports Therapist or uploading onto Kitman Labs in the SOAP format 
• within 24 hours of seeing the player. 
• Maintain compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and medical 
• guidelines.
• Attend CPD sessions and team meetings as required.
• Assist the Lead Academy Sports Therapist and Academy Physiotherapist to carry 
• out movement and postural screening, growth and maturation screening and 
• other testing throughout the season. 
• Maintain up to date ITMMiF/ATMMiF and provide pitch -side emergency care in 
• accordance with teaching
• Attend EAP stress testing
• Build and maintain strong interdisciplinary relationships with staff in 
• Performance, Coaching, Education, Player Care, Operations and Recruitment. 
• To assist in departmental CPD training programmes.
• Support the U18 medical Programme when required to ensure continuity.
