The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) provides critical care services by air and road across the North-East, Cumbria, North Yorkshire and the Isle of Man and our highly skilled team are the backbone of the lifesaving work we carry out.

We are expanding our team of HEMS Doctors to provide immediate interventions, safe in-transit critical care, and inter-hospital transfers as part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team. 

Working with critical care paramedics, pilots, and charity staff, you will play an active role in education, governance, research, and service development to maintain the highest standards of pre-hospital critical care.

Candidates must have completed an MBBS (or equivalent) and have full GMC registration with a license to practice. ALS, ATLS, APLS (or equivalent) are essential together with a parent speciality in emergency care, anaesthesia or intensive care and FRCA primary or MRCEM equivalent.

Candidates must have significant experience in their parent speciality, a minimum of 12 months’ HEMS or PHEM experience and advanced airways competence and pre-hospital emergency anaesthesia.  It will be an advantage to have experience in PHEM, formal anaesthesia training and aviation competencies, with experience in audit, research or service development.

Please note that these posts do not attract an NTN in pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM) however the training will provide the educational support and guidance to complete the PHEM exams.
