Team Leader – Glasshouse Operations (Living Herbs)
Shift Pattern: Tuesday to Saturday (6am to 2:30pm)

Not a typical production role. This is end-to-end growing leadership.
At Lincolnshire Herbs Ltd, our glasshouse operation sits at the heart of everything we do. From sowing and planting through to harvesting, packing and dispatch, our teams work across multiple stages of the growing cycle and that requires strong leadership.
We’re looking for a proactive, highly organised Team Leader who can think ahead, react fast and confidently manage people and priorities in a live growing environment where plans can change more than once a day.
About the role
This role is very different from a standard manufacturing Team Leader position.
You’ll be responsible for co-ordinating and supporting teams across the full glasshouse operation, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time while protecting plant health, meeting customer demand, and keeping labour efficient and profitable.
Daily order volumes fluctuate, harvesting plans can change at short notice, and plant conditions must be anticipated. This role suits someone who thrives under pressure, stays calm and makes smart decisions quickly.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading teams across sowing, planting, glasshouse growing, harvesting and packing.
- Actively supporting and developing teams at each stage of the growing process
- Planning and re-planning labour frequently to ensure coverage across all areas as orders change
- Anticipating plant health and crop readiness to inform harvesting and staffing decisions
- Managing daily people deployment while balancing efficiency, cost, and profitability
- Acting as a visible, hands-on leader within the glasshouse and production areas
- Championing health & safety, food safety, hygiene, and GMP standards
- Working closely with Production, Technical, Planning, and Engineering teams
- Supporting the Production Manager and helping to cover responsibilities in their absence
What we’re looking for
- Experience leading teams in a glasshouse, horticulture, agriculture, fresh produce, or FMCG environment
- Strong people-planning skills with the ability to adapt plans quickly and confidently
- A calm, solutions-focused mindset when working under pressure
- Commercial awareness, understanding how labour decisions impact cost and profitability
- The ability to think ahead, anticipate issues, and take preventative action
- Excellent communication skills and confidence leading diverse teams
- A hands-on leader who is comfortable being present on the floor, not behind a desk
