About the Role

The Head of Research, Engagement and Insight (REI) is a vital role which leads a vibrant team committed to tackling inequality, and strengthening the voluntary sector, through the collection/application of knowledge and the co-ordination of strategic responses to the issues prioritised by the communities we work with.  The post is supported through partnership funding from Macmillan Cancer Support and will have oversight of the Macmillan Community Voices programme, which is a central part of the Community360’s REI team.  Macmillan Community Voices exists to improve the experiences of people affected by health inequalities who are living with cancer.  Their work will be conducted in partnership with national, regional and local agencies to improve health outcomes and enable a holistic approach to care. The Head of REI is responsible for managing strategic plans, building networks and relationships, monitoring team performance, and leading impact to demonstrate the opportunities for positive change that will benefit people and voluntary organisations. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
·        Work with Macmillan Cancer Support to gather, report, share, and promote insight from the Macmillan Community Voices programme in impactful ways
·        Work across health and social care systems to implement responses to the priorities identified as important to communities and groups affected by health inequalities, serving as lead for health inequalities within Community360
·        Work with the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Strategy and Impact, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees to influence the strategic direction of C360 to develop and achieve objectives informed by evidence and learning generated and analysed by the REI team
·        Identify opportunities for, and contribute to the development of, partnerships, and innovation to advance social impact.
·        Build and manage relationships which support the strategic outcomes for Community360, primarily those associated with the REI team and its programmes of work.

Stakeholder Engagement
·        Oversee and participate in the engagement activities of the REI Macmillan Community Voices team, including one-to-one meetings, MCV partnership group, workshops and local strategic partnerships.
·        Collaborate with programme teams, supporters, funders, and community partners to align strategies with beneficiary needs.
·        Represent the organisation at conferences, funder meetings, and events.
·        Oversee the communications strategy for REI, working with marketing and communications leads.

Resource Development
·        Strengthen partnership working, including fundraising and resource development, which will positively address targets identified through the work of the REI team.  

Impact Measurement & Evaluation
·        Ensure that the team maintains and develops effective frameworks to measure programme impacts and community outcomes.

Team Leadership
·        Line manage and mentor the Research, Engagement and Insight Team, ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis, and reporting to achieve intended outcomes.
·        Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement across REI.
