Marches HR is a multi-award-winning, independent HR consultancy with bases in Hereford and Ludlow. We regularly carry out sensitive and complex HR investigations for clients across England and Wales. This includes a particular specialism in safeguarding-related HR investigations, so accuracy, care and discretion really matter to us.

We’re a small, supportive team and we’re looking for a reliable and detail-focused Transcription Assistant to support us on a casual, as-needed basis. The role involves checking and tidying investigation meeting transcripts to make sure they’re accurate, clear and professionally presented, often relating to sensitive subject matter.

About the role

The work mainly involves reviewing auto-generated transcripts against audio recordings, carefully checking spelling, grammar and punctuation and tidying the content so it reads clearly and professionally. You’ll be working with material that requires a high level of care and confidentiality, so this role would suit someone who takes real pride in producing accurate, thoughtful work behind the scenes.

While the role's very flexible, we do have high standards when it comes to the service we provide to our clients. Meeting agreed deadlines, working carefully and producing consistently accurate, high-quality work are essential.

The role's mainly remote. As long as agreed deadlines are met, work can be carried out at times that suit you including at evenings and weekends. There are no set working hours and no expectation of availability at particular times.

From time to time, you may also be asked to attend in-person meetings, including to support with live transcription or note-taking. For this reason, you must live within 2 hours of Hereford, Leominster or Ludlow.

What we're looking for

Essential criteria

  • Previous transcription, audio typing or transcript-editing experience

  • A very high level of attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent spelling, grammar and written English

  • Ability to clearly understand and transcribe a range of accents

  • Confidence working with audio recordings and transcripts

  • Experience using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365

  • Strong understanding of confidentiality, data sensitivity and professional boundaries

  • Calm, methodical and careful approach to work, particularly with sensitive material

  • Highly discreet, trustworthy and professional

  • Able to work independently and manage time effectively to meet agreed deadlines

  • Takes pride in delivering a consistently high standard of work

  • Reliable and professional when work's accepted

  • Able and willing to undertake infrequent paid travel for in-person meetings, living within 2 hours of Hereford, Leominster or Ludlow

Desirable

  • Experience working with sensitive or complex subject matter

  • Familiarity with HR, safeguarding, legal or investigation-related content

  • Experience working independently in a flexible or remote role
