The Scots Language Ootreach Co-ordinator actively supports schools with their Scots language programmes of study to identify ways that they can engage with, and benefit from, the SHY education resources. The post holder will also deliver, both in person and online, professional learning opportunities to classroom practitioners to improve their confidence in using Scots and SHY education resources.
The post holder will be employed directly by Scottish Book Trust but work closely with the Scots Hoose Yaldi (SHY) staff to administer, develop, coordinate and deliver the Scots Hoose Yaldi Education Ootreach programme in local authority schools. They will also work closely with SBT Schools Communities and wider team to ensure coordinated delivery and optimum impact for our school community audiences.
The role will grow and support the network of schools wishing to promote and use Scots language as part of their curriculum offer by establishing, maintaining and developing relationships with key stakeholders (including teachers, schools, librarians) promoting and monitoring participation in the Scots Language programmes, and carrying out engagement work to inform ongoing programme development.
