About the Role
The Senior Media & Communications Specialist will deliver Justice & Care’s media and communications strategy, securing impactful coverage, deepening public understanding of modern slavery, and strengthening the organisation’s voice as a trusted expert in the field.

This is a hands-on role: you’ll craft compelling stories, build strong media relationships, and ensure our communications remain survivor-centred, accurate, and ethical.

We know that to fight modern slavery, we need to engage people’s hearts and minds through brilliant communication and storytelling. It helps us engage new and existing donors, connect with journalists and other influencers and ensure those in the corridors of power listen and act. In a nutshell it is about making the issue of modern slavery compelling and engaging for our stakeholders.

If you secure this role, you’ll be responsible for helping to gather content from across our work, communicate it in a way that cuts through, and underlines our expertise as an organisation.

Beyond responsibility for content gathering and creation, the Media & Communications Specialist will have oversight of some of our key communication channels, including our website, social media and will manage communication to our mailing lists. If you’re successful you’ll have the technical nous to be able to upload stories onto our website, create compelling social media content and the knowledge of grammar to ensure that commas are in place and our spelling is correct.

About You
The successful candidate will:
  • Have strong experience in media relations, content creation, and digital communications;
  • Be skilled at crafting compelling, ethical stories that engage a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Enjoy building relationships with journalists, influencers, partners, and internal teams;
  • Bring experience managing social media, websites, and digital campaigns;
  • Be detail-oriented, with excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Have a passion for human rights and combatting modern slavery;
  • Be adaptable, flexible, and able to thrive in a hands-on, mission-driven environment;
  • Have the technical knowledge to upload content, manage analytics, and measure impact;
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
