About the Stafford Centre
Our resource centre in Edinburgh provides a drop in service, offering a safe environment to begin to build supportive networks through support and activities, and a main café area where people can chat and feel welcomed and valued. There are many supportive groups which help to build resilience and improve skills and confidence, from art and music sessions to our outdoor walking groups, peer support groups and more.

We also deliver the Signature Project for men suffering with PTSD, and have a Veterans Community Café to support veterans, former and retired members of the UK armed forces, police, fire services, merchant navy or other emergency services and their families.

About the Role
As a Project Worker, you will take a primary role within the staff team. You will ensure the efficient and effective daily running of the resource centre and meeting it’s aims; to provide a safe welcoming supportive space for clients which prioritises mental health and wellbeing. The service is recovery focussed and as Project Worker you will contribute to empowering people to manage their mental health, gain greater self-confidence and become more integrated within the community. 

Key Responsibilities:
·        Build professional supportive relationships with service users, including new referrals, helping them to identify their needs and achieve greater self-confidence.
·        Work as part of the team to maintain a welcoming and accepting atmosphere in the centre.
·        Share team responsibilities equally, including facilitating group activities
·        Promote the values of Change mental health in all aspects of your work
·        Maintain clear communication with colleagues, attending meetings, training sessions, and contributing to team discussions
·        Assist in implementing centre policies, including health and safety


Essential skills & Experience
·        Educated to SVQ 3 level or have experience working in mental health
·        Work well in a team setting but can also work autonomously 
·        A sound theory base of social care interventions including risk assessment 
·        A value base that is consistent with the aims and objectives of Change Mental Health
·        Capable of applying an analytical approach to problems in order to find solutions
·        A good standard of I.T skills
·        Value, respect and promote equality, diversity and rights of individuals
·        Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm, respectful and professional way

General Duties:  
·        Act in accordance with Data Protection legislation.  Ensure all records, personal, staff and client data are managed in line with Data Management and Information Governance policies.
·        Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
·        As with all employees, workers and volunteers; to encourage people to join Change Mental Health as a member, donor or activist.
·        To act in accordance with the charity’s Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies and to notify a line manager promptly if there are any concerns.
·        To participate in regular supervision and appraisal and undertake any relevant training as appropriate to the role.
·        To work in accordance with the charity’s national policies and local operating procedures and those of external regulators or professional bodies.
