Role
The Cash & Payments Associate / Leader works closely with colleagues across Operations and Finance to ensure timely and robust management of payments into and out of the Bank relating to customers of the Bank, directly engaged with the Bank or through the Forward Flow Agreements.
 
The roleholder will report to the Servicing Manager

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Servicing Manager, the role holder will spend 80% of their time closely managing payments in and out of the Bank in relation to customers including
a) Loan completion / drawdown payments
b) Ensuring payments are reconciled and any suspense items are reviewed and sent to the correct accounts 
c) Accurate reporting of payment transactions including bank reconciliations across lending and deposit products
d) Analysis of balances and recommendations where required for improvements and maturing deposits raised directly with the Bank or the deposit aggregators
e) Supporting the administration of payment mandates and signatories across the Bank with our bankers
f) Supporting operations and other teams with queries / investigations around payments
g) Coordinate and compile data, accurately prepare comprehensive management reports, ensuring collaboration and adherence to deadlines throughout the process.
h) The role holder will also be responsible for the payments team consisting of two colleagues the team leader duties include
i) Driving continuous improvement within the payments team functions
j) Completing 121’s / team buzzes/ return to works/ performance improvement plans if required.
k) Support controls management to make sure the business has continued strong risk management

 

Key Tasks
  • Payment processing and approvals in line with procedures 
  • Investigating any anomalies 
  • Managing bank reconciliations and suspense account entries to an acceptable level
  • Escalating any differences in payment behaviour, including preventing fraudulent transactions
  • Contribute to reporting on key performance and risk indicators

Experience
  • Experience in a payments or finance role, preferably within financial services
  • Experienced in MS-Excel, MS-Word 

Qualifications & Personal Characteristics

  • A high attention to detail and strong numeracy skills including the ability to manipulate, sort and aggregate data 
  • The ability to work in a team environment and build strong working relationships with peers to contribute to team goals 
  • Strong time management skills, working to deadlines ensuring tasks are completed correctly and within agreed timeframes. 
  • A sound understanding of Excel and intermediate calculations
  • Mathematics GCSE A level or equivalent
