Purpose of Post
This post will mainly be based in our Walsall campus but there will be required work at our city campus as well.
To support, lead and train Team Leaders and bar Staff, lliaising with the venues manager, to continuously improve and develop an exceptional service.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring adherence to standardised recipes and maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
To create and manage a varied calendar of events to create engagement within our student community.
1. Support the Venues with the management of the commercial outlets at Walsall and City Campus, including set up, close-down, food preparation, cleaning, maintenance, managing daily operations, customer service, financial processing, and stock control.
2. Supervise a small team of part-time student staff to deliver high quality customer focused services. This will include, training, developing, and managing performance.
3. Encourage and promote a high standard of customer care ensuring customers are served in a polite, welcoming, and courteous manner.
4. Ensure First Aid, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, and other compliance areas relating to the Students’ Union’s commercial outlets are adhered to.
5. Ensure appropriate records are kept and maintained in relation to the operation of the commercial outlets. (Such as food hygiene records).
6. Manage stock which will include ordering items and ensuring availability of menu items, including catering provisions and minimising wastage. Receive, check, and sign for deliveries and ensure security of stock.
7. To manage catering requirements of commercial bookings, utilising your planning, organisational and creative skills to support the delivery of events, whilst complying with the Students’ Union brand and values.
8. Take the lead in creating exciting and engaging events for our students to attend
9. Be responsible for own Health & Safety and that of your colleagues who may be affected by your acts or omissions in the workplace and adhere to the organisations Health & Safety policy and procedures.
10. To suggest improvements to systems, processes, food and drink offerings as well as the organisation of events and the commercial outlets based on experience, team, and student feedback.
11. Any other duties that might reasonably be required.
General Responsibilities
1. To support the venues manager with the development of the venues, with on developing customer experience at our Walsall campus.
2. To demonstrably embed the values of the organisation in every aspect of the role and be a positive role model.
3. To contribute to the development of a sense of team, within the Food & Beverage Department, the commercial outlets team and across the Students’ Union.
4. To be able to deputise for the venues manager in their absence.

EXPERIENCE
Experience of food preparation and menu creation. E
At least two years’ experience of working in a food retail outlet, bar or commercial kitchen E
|Previous experience of supervising a team of staff E
Good understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation E
Holds at least a Level 2 food hygiene certificate. D
A relevant professional qualification in hospitality or catering D
At least 1 year’s supervisory experience in a bar or food outlet E
