Our access to capital and real estate is important but our most valuable asset is our team, and we are delighted now to be recruiting for a Project Director.

The role
·       Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, we are looking for an ambitious individual to deliver our construction projects in Milan. 
·       You will own the overall delivery responsibility for Apto Capital Projects including data centre projects and HV/MV substations. This will include ownership of the project scope, EHS, quality, timeline and budget.
·       You will own and manage the relationships with general contractors, utility companies, joint venture partners, statutory bodies, design consultants and equipment vendors to deliver efficient and high-quality project turnovers. 
·       Working with the Preconstruction Team you will define the construction strategy in Milan including suitable delivery partners. 
·       Working with the Commercial Team you will develop the construction scope of works and Request for Proposals in accordance with local legislation.  
·       You will play a leading role in tender negotiations with general contractors and equipment vendors.
·       You will complete constructability reviews of civil, structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical designs associated with construction of new data centre facilities. 
·       You will have the ability to manage general contractors’ and equipment vendors’ construction contracts and customer lease agreements including budgets, change orders, purchase orders, invoicing and financial capital requests. 
·       You will hire and manage a local construction team capable of delivering best in class data centre facilities.  
·       You will play an active part in interfacing with our customers to deliver upon customer lease obligations.  

Basic Qualifications
·       Degree in construction management, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering OR ten years equivalent experience. 
·       15+ years relevant preconstruction or construction experience with industrial or commercial construction projects in Italy.
·       Demonstrate ability to manage general contractors, vendors, utility companies and statutory bodies through full project life cycle.
·       In-depth understanding of local statutory obligations as they relate to new developments. 
·       Stakeholder management, both internal and external, confident at presenting and ability to influence key decision makers.

·       Fluent in both Italian and English.
·       Demonstrated ability to lead €50m+ contracts.

 Preferred Qualifications
·       10+ years of construction experience in the European data centre industry.
·       Experience of working with large data centre providers in Milan. 
·       Experience creating and managing project schedules, quality plans and budgets. 
·       Experience managing data centre tenders.
·       Experience with value engineering at preconstruction and construction stages.
·       Proven track record in creating high quality consistent documentation for processes, standards and procedures.
·       Experience managing construction teams on large industrial projects. 
·       Ability to deliver projects using Building Information Modelling (BIM) software. 

Location
Milan. 10% travel across Europe.
