The role's key objectives:

· To support Twycross Zoo’s Conservation Science and organisational Conservation strategies.

· Collaborate with internal teams, academic staff, students and other stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of high-quality applied conservation science research.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work with key university partners and internal stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of high-quality, applied conservation science research projects. Assist with project result feedback where appropriate.

2. Work alongside Twycross Zoo’s Animal Behaviour and Welfare Coordinator to assist with behavioural data collection on a variety of species.

3. Monitoring of the research inbox.

4. Process research applications in line with organisational procedures.

5. Conduct on-site research inductions and deal with researcher enquiries.

6. Collation of data on research related activities to evidence progress towards the achievement of Twycross Zoo’s Conservation Goals.

7. Ensuring that information and reports are generated for projects requiring ethical review, as needed by the organisation.

Key Skills and Requirements:

1. Bachelor of science degree in a relevant field. Masters degree in a related scientific discipline is desirable.

2. Experience of supporting applied research in a zoo or similar professional setting.

3. A thorough understanding and interest in the role of zoos in conservation and research.

4. The ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to enable project delivery.

5. Competent using Microsoft Office packages. Experience using ZIMS, R or similar statistical packages relevant to the field desirable.

6. Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce scientific reports.

7. Ability to be self-led and work independently.

8. A full clean driving license and access to vehicle to travel to site.

9. Excellent time management skills.

10. Provide excellent customer service and be willing to give operational support to other departments as requested.

Job Type: Full-time,  Monday-Friday. This role is Fixed term to cover maternity leave.

Pay: £24,403.00 per year
