About Us
We aim to become the champions of mental health on the Isle of Man from low-level early intervention positive mental health support and training, through to more complex needs and longer-term conditions. We work in collaboration with the statutory services and other third sector partners to provide a unique environment on our beautiful Island where the importance of mental health is recognised and the community work together to provide timely and correct interventions at every level.

About You
You will hold a recognised psychological qualification at Diploma level or equivalent in Counselling or Psychotherapy; and be accredited (or working towards accreditation) with a recognised professional body, e.g. BACP, BABCP, UKCP, BAAT, BPS.
You will have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups including, children, adolescents, and adults. You will understand the importance of clinical risk assessment, governance and safeguarding. You will also understand the importance of teamworking and will need to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the organisation, occasionally working unsociable hours.

The Role
The post holder will deliver therapeutic interventions to children and young people, as part of the charity’s delivery of services to the population of the Isle of Man. The post holder will be working with clients who have a range of conditions for which therapy has been demonstrated to be clinically effective. At specified levels of activity, the postholder will take responsibility for clients from assessment through to the provision of an appropriate range of therapeutic interventions, referring onwards where there is a clinical need.
The postholder will appreciate the importance of maintaining accurate clinical records in a timely manner (in accordance with the organisation’s procedures) and will be able to prioritise workload for the efficient delivery of our service.

Notes

Responsibilities
• Assessing clients presenting at the first point of contact with the service
• Managing time and caseload, including accurate maintenance of client records
• Providing appropriate psychological therapeutic interventions and consultation on clients’ psychological care to referrers, family members and carers
• Attending training opportunities and courses as and when required
• Highlighting any unmet needs and shortfalls in the availability of psychological services; offering suggestions about service initiatives and developments
• Advise managers on other aspects of the service where psychological and/or organisational matters require attention
• Participate fully and implement standards devised by the Charity
• Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of current developments in professional and clinical practice
• To be proactive and assist in the promotion of mental health and wellbeing issues throughout the Island
• Compliance with all company and clients procedures
• Exceed clients’ expectations for service

Skills & Experience Required
• Demonstrable experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, within a community setting
• Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment
• A recognised psychological qualification to Diploma level or equivalent in Counselling, CBT or Psychotherapy
• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and accredited with one of the following: BACP, BABCP, UKCP, BAAT or BPS
• Demonstrable experience of the theory and practice of psychological therapies in difference client groups
• A strong belief in the importance of mental health
• To have understanding, compassion, patience, a non-judgemental attitude, genuineness and trust, and be able to apply this in therapeutic context
• Ability to communicate with people at all levels
• Reliable, confident, self-motivated team player
• Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise issues
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 software and good working knowledge of client database systems and the recording of clinical client assessment notes
• Hold a full, clean driving licence
