DOMESTIC ASSISTANT - 15 hours per week (2pm-7pm, 3 days a week to include weekends)
About Us
At The Mary Stevens Hospice, we provide palliative care and support for patients and their families and carers during challenging times. Our dedicated team ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all who stay with us and use our services.
We are looking for a committed Domestic Assistant to join our team, focusing on maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene predominantly working within our In-Patient Unit and kitchen area.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly clean patient rooms, communal areas, and the kitchen to the highest standards and in accordance with agreed schedules and timescales.
- Ensure compliance with infection control procedures and health & safety regulations.
- Support laundry duties on weekends, including washing, drying, and organising linen.
- To ensure the domestic cleaning equipment is kept clean and tidy in accordance with organisational standards.
- To follow the required food hygiene practices at all times.
- Assist in maintaining a welcoming environment for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to uphold the hospice’s values and ethos of Care, Compassion and Kindness.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic role (preferred but not essential).
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Understanding of health and safety and infection control practices.
- Able to work weekends and adapt to varying duties.
- A compassionate and respectful approach towards patients and families.
