We boast a top quality restaurant, a first class farm shop and butchery and a beautiful outdoor living, home and gift department . In addition we have Poppy's Farm, an outdoor farm area and cafe where you can enjoy a cuppa amongst our pigs, goats and chickens, lake & nature trail. Our Yurt hosts a whole manner of wellbeing and recreational activities and workshops for children, adults and gardeners alike. The Yurt also hosts private functions. There is something for everyone!
 
The restaurant team is at the heart of our locally renowned garden centre, and our continued success means we are looking to recruit a number of new team members to work either in the Potting Shed Restaurant and/or in Poppy's farm café.

The roles we are looking to recruit to include;
 
  • X1 Full time 36.5 hours a week, on a 2 week rota to include alternate weekends -  permanent – located in The Potting Shed Restaurant
  •  X 2 Fixed term contract 6 months – located in Poppy’s Farm Café weekends only Saturday 10:00-16:30/ Sunday 09:30 -16:30 or both days.    
  •  X 3 weekend casual staff to work across both the Potting Shed /Poppy’s farm café with a minimum of 6hrs shifts. 


Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide flexible cover over multiple areas of our hospitality team service areas.
  • Cover includes pot wash and variable front of house duties
  • Food & Beverage Assistant cover 
  • To be a key dependable  team support member who is  ready and flexible to support the hospitality team wherever the most urgent need occurs and be able to prioritise tasks in the interests of both the team and providing excellent customer service.


  Multi Skilled Hospitality Assistant

Areas of cover include;     
  •  Waitering as a food server 
  • Cashier & till operator 
  • Barista & Bartender floater 
  • Supporting events and bookings 
  • Food & drink runner 
  • Food & Beverage floater 
  • Supporting the running of kid’s activities and events during the holidays.   
     
  • To welcome and greet all customers entering and leaving the restaurant/cafe. 
  •  Follow the systems designed for the restaurant to deliver effective service and best working practice. 
  •  To deal with and answer any customer question to the best of your ability or knowledge. 
  • Ensuring high standards of food hygiene are met each day on shift as a food handler and server. 
  • Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of the restaurant is maintained to a good standard. 
  • Ensure efficient set up & clean down at the beginning and end of each service using the correct clean down procedures and re-stocking systems that are in place. 
  • Use of Espresso Machines to the correct Barista standards set out by the Management, delivering the best coffees experience as possible each time set out from your training.
  • Carefully inputting customer orders through a till point and correctly tendering money transactions. 
  •  Ensure all tables are cleared and cleaned promptly and reset ready for the next customers. 
  •  Be alert and have some urgency/effort when as you could be quickly dragged into different positions to cover any eventuality on shift or task that needs your attention. 
  • Adhere to the code of conduct policy for the department by showcasing it when on duty through good morale, work ethic and positive attitude.   
 

Pot Wash Duties

  • To safely use the dishwasher and glass washing machines correctly to the best of their capability to produce clean and sterile crockery, glassware and kitchen utensils for front of house and kitchen teams.
  • To set up and clean down both dishwasher and glass washer machines correctly so they can perform to their best every day.
  • To regular keep the pot washer room clean , dry and tidy to have a safe comfortable working environment to get good clean crockery and glassware.
  • To safely and correctly store clean equipment and kitchen utensils away in their correct homes for the chef team to find.
  • To safely load the front of house crockery and glassware trolleys efficiently so the front of house team can correctly put away those items in a quick and effective manner. 
  • Remove and dispose of all rubbish throughout and at the end of the day to make sure it does not build up.
  • Help keep the delivery goods inwards area tidy, safe and clean by doing any task needed to keep this area spotless at all times. 
  • Make sure you spend plenty of time to mop the pot wash room and the kitchen pot wash sinks thoroughly to make it safe and clean for the next day. 
  • Help put on any laundry from the kitchen or front of house laundry bins daily to keep on top of our fresh clean laundry.
