Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking for a full time Advice and Training Supervisor to work from our hub office in Camborne, to support our paid and volunteer advisers in their role giving advice. This is a great opportunity to work with dedicated and well-trained teams delivering advice and guidance to those in our community who need help.
The role is key to providing a smooth and efficient service available throughout the county via phone, webchat, email, video appointment and face to face.

Essential Criteria
- Current experience of effectively managing a team
- An understanding of the differences of managing paid staff and volunteers
- Experience of working with people in a supportive role and managing complex needs of customers/clients.
- An understanding of the welfare benefits and housing/homelessness systems.
- Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and a willingness to challenge constructively.
- Good understanding of safeguarding principles and willingness to adhere to them.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
- Ability and willingness to work as part of a team and alone.
- A good communicator and motivator, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed, dignity at work is upheld and staff are empowered and motivated to do their best.
- The ability to commit to and work within the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service and the vision of Citizens Advice Cornwall
- Ability to travel and work across Cornwall.
- Ability to use IT packages including Microsoft Word (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar, planning or database packages and the ability to use email and maintain an electronic diary.
- Experience with Citizens Advice systems (Casebook, Advisernet, Adviceline) is useful but not essential.
- Commitment to reflective performance and continuing professional development
Desirable Criteria
- Qualification/experience as Generalist Adviser
- Experience of working in the charitable/third sector and/or working with groups of volunteers
- An ability to help build a collaborative ‘one-team’ culture whereby staff and volunteers, as far as possible, contribute their skills, experience and time flexibly across our service to meet the needs of our clients and colleagues. Therefore, a flexible approach to working and planning would be desirable.
