PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The focus of this role is to service and repair cycles in line with targets agreed with the workshop manager.
The Senior Technicians also lead essential processes within the workshop to ensure smooth week to week operation, for example:
- Coordinating the weekly donation of refurbished bikes
- Coordinating the volunteers who support this process
- Providing in-house technical training
- Technical support logs and subsequent post-delivery repairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To repair and service on average a minimum of 8 cycles per week.
- To carry out all repairs to standards outlined with the site manager.
- To complete final checks and feedback on the refurbishment quality of colleague’s work, regardless of their experience level relative to their own.
- To lead on an essential process that facilitates the efficiency of the space and supports the delivery of bikes to our recipients.
- To share knowledge and expertise with staff and volunteers to pursue active growth of skills and inclusivity.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
Use Salesforce, Shopify and other data platforms to ensure accurate and timely updates to stock actions and location movements for the bike they work on.
At times to assist the Stock Coordinator with stock takes or daily line counts.
When necessary, support with direct delivery of bikes onsite i.e. weekly donation sessions, allocating and sizing bikes and safety accessories to bike recipients, supporting , etc.
Where business priorities allow using their technical expertise to support with the delivery of complimentary programmes i.e., training volunteers to triage and prep bikes to work on, supporting a funded activity to train our service recipients with bike maintenance skills.
At times to support the Stock Coordinator with processing and registering new bike stock, walk-in donations and scrap management across the site.
Encourage each other to work tidy and efficiently, keep all tool and spares in use in their appropriate place. Help maintain a safe working to environment and raise awareness of potential risks straight away.
