About Cognisys

Cognisys Group is an established multi-£m turnover cyber consultancy working within the fast-moving cybersecurity industry. Headquartered in Leeds, it's our business to make other businesses more secure.

We have plans to significantly grow the business over the next 3-5 years and as a result are looking for our 9th hire of the year.

Our values are honesty, intelligence and professionalism and we’re creating the right environment for people to learn and develop as a team, but we like to have some fun too.

The Role

As an infrastructure specialist networking consultant in our team, your day-to-day tasks will involve a mix of technical expertise, collaborative efforts, and proactive problem-solving. Here's what you can expect:

  • Network Security Analysis: Conduct in-depth assessments of our clients' infrastructure security (from both internal and external perspective). This includes identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and providing recommendations for improvement. Your Red Team experience will come into play as you simulate attacks to evaluate defensive capabilities.
  • Network Infrastructure Enhancement: Leverage your networking prowess to understand the improvements required in the client's network architecture. You'll work on enhancing security measures. This will be based on your findings from the test above, advising clients on the best approach to secure their architecture.
  • Certification and Compliance: Stay up to date with industry certifications and compliance standards. You'll be responsible for maintaining and achieving relevant certifications as needed for project requirements. As a CREST member company, we would recommend a certification path to include CCT and other relevant certifications (CCSAS and CCSAM). This should be discussed with your line manager.
  • Collaboration with Team Members: Work closely with our Lead Infrastructure Specialist, Zak, and other team members. Collaborate on client projects, share knowledge, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive team environment. Share your insights and experience to help the team excel.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients to understand their specific security and networking needs. Communicate your findings, solutions, and recommendations in a clear and professional manner.
  • Problem Solving: Approach challenges with a "get things done" attitude. Be proactive in identifying and addressing issues promptly. Offer innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of assessments, network designs, and security strategies. Effective documentation is essential for transparency and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest trends, threats, and technologies in infrastructure security and networking. Continuously improve your skills to remain at the forefront of the field.
  • Global Collaboration: Embrace the diversity within our team and work harmoniously in a multicultural environment. Recognise the value of different perspectives and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Training and Mentoring: As you gain experience, take on a mentoring role, assisting less experienced team members and helping them grow in their careers.

In this role, you'll be a vital part of our team, ensuring the security and efficiency of our clients' infrastructure while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

The Requirements

  • Experience Matters: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on industry experience is a must. We're especially interested in candidates with leading certifications, showcasing your commitment to excellence.
  • Red Team Experience: If you have experience with Red Team activities, that's a significant bonus. We value the ability to think both offensively and defensively when it comes to infrastructure security.
  • Networking Prowess: Strong networking experience is highly desirable. We're looking for individuals who understand the intricacies of network infrastructure and can drive innovation in this space.
  • Get Things Done Attitude: We believe in action, not just talk. A proactive attitude and the ability to get things done are qualities we highly appreciate.
Benefits

Permanent full time position, based a 20 minute tram from Manchester Victoria but with flexibility to work from home some days following a successful probationary period.

• 22-to-25-day annual leave on sliding scale, plus statutory holidays
• Additional holiday for birthday

• Bonus plan based on individual/company performance
