We require a volunteer to work at the MS Centre pool on Wednesdays 8.30-12 AM term time only.
Role of the lifeguard:
- Being aware of all existing medical conditions of staff and students
- Remaining pool side at all times
- Performing emergency medical intervention (CPR) if/when necessary
- Co-ordination and assisting in emergency evacuation procedures
- Sound alarms from pool side as necessary (wrist alarm), coordinate someone to call an ambulance if necessary
- Observing the safety of children and staff from a vantage point for the whole of the session
- Receive and hold medicine keys and store emergency protocols and medicines in a safe place poolside
- Wearing pool wrist alarm at all times
- Wearing pool whistle at all times
- Having a stopwatch on their person to time seizures
- To position self opposite entrance door
If you do not have lifeguard training and can join us to be trained , it will be mid-September for 1 day and you would receive a certificate in Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Rescue Award.
To attend the training would need to meet the following requirements:
Be 16+ years of age prior to assessment
Wade in standing depth water swiftly and confidently
Be able to regain your footing from a face-down and face-up floating position in the water
Climb out of the pool unaided without using a ladder/steps where the pool design allows
