HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AND FOOD PROGRAMME | 2025

Job purpose:

Exeter City Community Trust are seeking casual support staff to assist with the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme this summer.

These programmes are designed to provide active and engaging opportunities for children and young people during the school holidays.

Staff will be required to support the activity delivery team and teaching staff at a range of locations across Exeter this summer.

Main Responsibilities:

· Support with the delivery of daily activities. This may include ice breakers, energisers, team building, as well as supporting activity providers.

· Ensuring a safe programme by helping to managing behaviour.

· Encourage the young people to take part in activities by building rapport and supporting their individual needs.

· Assisting during break times and at pick up and drop off.

· Take part in daily briefings with the programme lead/other staff to update them on any issues and report any safeguarding concerns.

About you:

You should be patient, approachable, and able to build and maintain positive relationships with children and teenagers from a diverse range of backgrounds. Passionate about developing young people’s confidence, you should be able to create a safe and fun environment and be confident in using your own initiative to support young people in engaging in the programme.

Essential:

· Experience of working with children/teenagers

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively with young people

Desirable:

· Willingness to learn new skills and ways of working with young people

· Safeguarding qualification

· First aid certificate

· Understanding/experience of working with children with additional needs

· Knowledge and understanding of the HAF programme principles

· Experience in delivering either physical/educational activities to young people

Dates: The HAF programmes will run from Monday 21st July – Friday 29th August with various roles across different weeks on both our Primary and Secondary programmes. Availability to be discussed at interview.

Hours: Daytime. Minimum 20 hours per week.

Salary: £12.50 per hour
