Carers in Bedfordshire is looking for a proactive and hands-on individual to carry out carer assessments and support unpaid carers that are referred through the Community Mental Health Teams. To implement carer support plans and deliver carer well-being interventions.

The Community Mental Health Link Worker role is an exciting position that works exclusively to support unpaid carers.
Funded by ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust), you will have the flexibility to develop the role while meeting the core outcomes.
You'll be a real people person, be pro-active and enjoy networking; to engage with unpaid carers and build strong relationships with professionals.
Ideally you’ll have an understanding of the internal working of the mental health services. Coaching/training will be given.
Your placement will be in Bedford Borough (ie. Bedford) and will require some travel.
Main duties will include:
- Undertake carer assessments by phone, online or face to face. To identify carer need and implement care plans that are in line with the care act and meet the requirements of Bedford Borough Council.
- Deliver carers well-being interventions as informed by the carers assessment to include psycho-education, low intensity therapeutic support and practical support.
- Support carers to access both statutory, public and other voluntary services within Bedford borough. When appropriate, support carers’ involvement in the review and planning of services for them and the person they care for.
- Work closely with ELFT and CiB colleagues to ensure appropriate assessments and interventions are put in place.
- Provide emotional support, information, advice and advocacy to carers.
- Facilitate outreach sessions such as support groups online and face to face.

Carers in Bedfordshire need a minimum of three days (consisting of 21 hours), however, if you are looking for a full-time position, you would be expected to use the additional hours to support our core carer services in our Bedford office.
