We require a part time Teaching Assistant for our BTEC programmes working within the Education Department.
The post holder will be based out of both Belong Gaming Area in Bristol City Centre, as well as City Academy school in Easton. Occasional meetings and aspects of the role could also be based at Ashton Gate Stadium.
Your Main Responsibilities:
· Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with SEND, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
· Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.
· Use strategies, in liaison with a teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
· Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
· Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
· Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
· Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupil’s achievement, progress, problems etc.
· Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers.
· Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher.
· Assist with the supervision of pupils with another supporting member of staff during the absence of the class teacher.
You will have:
· Good numeracy/literacy skills.
· Experience of teaching and assisting others
· Knowledge and ability to use ICT effectively to support learning.
· Reasonable word processing skills.
· An ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- An ability to set high personal standards and work calmly and effectively in an environment characterised by high level of ambiguity and complexity.
- An Ability to communicate with staff, students, and partners in a clear, concise and purposeful way to build effective relationships.
We would also like you to have:
- A positive, can-do attitude.
- Completion of DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme (or willing to work towards)
- An understanding of sport to support our learners on BTEC Sport qualifications
- Experience with a range of ages and students/participants.
