Job Description
Job Title: First Team Physical Performance Coach
Reports to: Head of Performance
Salary: £25,000
Hours: Full time
Role Summary:
The role of the Physical Performance Coach is to contribute to the physical development of all First Team players, working closely with the Head of Performance, to help optimise player performance, readiness, and availability. The individual will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of both gym and pitch-based strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation sessions. The performance coach will also lead on player monitoring and screening providing relevant feedback to key stakeholders.
Key Job Outcomes:
• Assist in the development and delivery of individualised Strength & Conditioning programmes for all First Team and Young Professional players
• Improve physical performance through specific profiling of all First Team and Young Professional players
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of individualised pre training activation sessions
• Assist / lead daily Strength & Conditioning sessions
• Support and liaise with Head of Medical Services for the rehabilitation of injured players
• Provide all key management staff with reports as required, including but not limited to KPI’s around group and individual norms of training loads, volume and tonnage
• Oversee physical performance screening and testing of players
• Improve performance through developing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programmes that reflect scientific principles (adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering and injury rehabilitation).
• Work closely with MDT members to enhance and continue to develop injury prevention / performance / nutrition and recovery strategies.
• Contribute to players’ off-season physical development programmes
• Provide reports and structured individual performance goals based upon individual needs
• Assist the Head of Performance with any Sports Science/Strength and Conditioning based tasks
• Deliver on pitch sessions, including warm-ups, CV conditioning and recovery as required
• Carry out other duties as required by Head of Performance
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
• BSc Sport Science or BSc Strength & Conditioning (Hons)
• Experience of Strength & Conditioning athlete support within a professional sports environment
• Ability to deliver plan and deliver an evidence-based Strength and Conditioning programmes
• Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating Strength and Conditioning practice to injured athletes
• Experience using GPS systems
• Strong IT Skills (Excel, PowerBi)
Desirable Qualifications
• MSc Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning
• Qualifications in Strength & Conditioning i.e. UKSCA, EXOS, CSCS
