With a local Cornish history of over 40 years in the industry, we are proud to have built up a very comprehensive archive of mining data. This is made up of our archive of maps as well as the data collected from the thousands of site investigations that we have carried out over the years. Our extensive knowledge has allowed us to become market leaders in the mining industry.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a talented and motivated Graduate Geologist to join our well established team.
The position is a mix of field-based and office-based work, conducting mining related site inspections and site investigations and preparing reports for residential property sales, developments and planning applications. It will involve:

What are we looking for?
We are looking for a talented and motivated Graduate Geologist to join our well established team.
The position is a mix of field-based and office-based work, conducting mining related site inspections and site investigations and preparing reports for residential property sales, developments and planning applications. It will involve:
- Learning and becoming proficient in identifying mining related ground conditions
- Logging the findings onto the Groundsure database
- Become proficient in accurately and efficiently writing up the findings in a report format
This post is the first step in a process of development, with promotion, through our Geology Team increasing the range of skills as you progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision of a more senior member of the team until you have the skills to deliver on your own.
- Undertake site works to company’s standards, targeting highlighted risk and obtaining sufficient and representative coverage to cover risks
- Implement and abide by all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements provided
- Analyse and interpret data and produce relevant reports
- Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements prior to attending site
Additional Tasks
- Accurately estimate for new jobs following an enquiry from a possible client. Gather sufficient information to ensure appropriate pricing and suitable coverage
- Attend meetings and contribute to the team as required. This may include occasional out of hours Groundsure lead client events.
- Ongoing training to develop relevant knowledge and skills

Who are you?
We are looking for an enthusiastic entry level Geologist who is keen to learn what we do as a company and what our clients need to understand historical mining risk to their property and/or development. You will be good at taking instruction and grow to learn to use your initiative to improve our systems and processes.
Your skill set
- Educated to relevant degree level
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Current location is the Redruth / Camborne area or potential to relocate
- Full clean UK Driver’s Licence
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively
- Proactive approach and ability to work on own initiative
- Strong IT Skills
- Experience of working with GSuite, CAD and QGIS would be an advantage (preferred)
- You have an understanding of GDPR and are used to handling confidential information (preferred)
