Vacancy at Carers in Bedfordshire
CARERS IN BEDFORDSHIRE:
Carers in Bedfordshire is a registered charity that is governed by carers, for carers. Its work is to ensure unpaid carers care while maintaining their health and wellbeing, and are properly valued and supported by the government and the community. Founded in 2004, Carers in Bedfordshire has experienced a meteoric rise from a peer support group to an organisation that supports over 8,000 unpaid carers across Bedfordshire. Our dedicated staff team and army of volunteers are key to our success but with an estimated 40,000 unpaid carers in Bedfordshire the need to grow remains ever present.
THE ROLE:
We are on the lookout for another Wellbeing Practitioner to provide support to unpaid carers who are at risk of carer breakdown, through a range of wellbeing interventions, addressing practical as well as wider health and wellbeing needs. The post holder will deliver low intensity psychosocial interventions to clients with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
The successful applicant will be part of a team, working together with the Service Leads for Personalised Adult Support, Workshops Events and Groups, Dementia Services, Child and Family Services and support staff across all departments, sharing your specialist expertise with colleagues.
OUR WISH LIST:
You'll be a dedicated, motivated psychology/mental health graduate with experience of delivering CBT based interventions on an individual and group basis with adults and/or children.
If you want to make a difference then we are the non-profit organisation for you.
JOB PURPOSE:
• Assess and support carers with mild to moderate mental health difficulties
• Undertake person centred assessments by phone or face to face, which identify the areas where the carer wishes to see change or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others
• Offer a range of choice about treatment options based on the least burden of intervention appropriate to need and provide a range of short term evidence based low intensity psychological treatment interventions in accordance with NICE guidance. Interventions may include information, guided self help and group CBT. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media
• Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as appropriate
• Create a social media campaign of wellbeing content where carers can refer back to the video content in their own time
• Attend multi disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or carers receiving interventions where appropriate
and much more! (see attached job description)
