Job Purpose:
We are committed to growing the work of CRNS over the next three years and the creation of this brand-new role will be a key enabler of that growth.
The purpose of the Communications and Campaigns Officer role is to deliver excellent and engaging communications, growing the profile of CRNS and to use this enhanced platform to campaign for a more circular economy in Scotland.
More specifically the Communications and Campaigns Officer will:
- Create and implement a new marketing and communications strategy.
- Support the Chief Executive Officer in rebranding the organisation.
- Deliver sector leading communications across all our communication channels.
- Run effective policy and awareness campaigns calling for a more circular economy in Scotland.
- Provide marketing and communication support to CRNS members.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
1. Strategy (evidenced by delivery of an excellent quality marketing and communication strategy which takes our communications to the next level)
• Review our existing marketing and communications presence and identify key areas for improvement.
• Create a marketing and communications strategy for CRNS and implement this to deliver improved communications for the organisation going forward.
• Ensure our marketing and communications strategy is maintained and reviewed on an annual basis.

2. Rebranding (evidenced by a clear and compelling organisational brand which is effectively rolled out among our key stakeholders)
• Support the CEO in reviewing the CRNS name and brand with external support.
• Ensure effective engagement and consultation with our members and stakeholders.
• Implement our new brand across all our communication channels.
• Ensure key lessons are learned from the rebranding process.
• Ensure appropriate brand guidelines, standards and tone of voice are consistently implemented across the organisation.

3. Communications (evidenced by improving web and social engagement levels, high quality and engaging content, positive media exposure and growth in organisational profile).
• Website – maintain, develop and manage the CRNS and Reuse Consortium websites.
• Social media – manage our social media platforms, ensuring an effective and engaging social media presence.
• Newsletter – working with the CRNS team, oversee the production of our two monthly newsletters.
• Print – lead on the publication of key printed publications as required including our annual impact report.
• Media – identify target media, develop relationships with journalists, write press releases, ensure positive PR and media exposure.
• Monitor effectiveness of all communication channels and deliver programme of continuous improvement.

4. Campaigns (evidenced by strong and effective awareness campaigns which shift knowledge and attitudes regarding circular economy issues in target audiences and policy campaigns which deliver more circular-friendly policies at regional and national level).
• Plan and deliver a programme of campaigns as part of our vision for a more circular economy in Scotland.
• Deliver effective policy campaigns calling for specific policy interventions and awareness campaigns highlighting key issues impacting our members.
• Review effectiveness of campaigns for future improvements.

5. Members (evidenced by improved quality of communications across the sector and feedback on support to our members).
• Work with our members to tell the wider story of the sector.
• Run training events to upskill the marketing capacity within our member organisations.
• Support wider CRNS activity and member support (e.g. events, member advocacy, developmental support, representation) focusing on communications and marketing.

6. Other Duties
• Support the CEO and wider staff team to deliver effectively across the full remit of CRNS’s operations.
• Support in the delivery of funding and tender submissions.
• Organisation of personal workload and general administration.
• Attend relevant training courses, industry seminars, forums and conferences.
• Ensure own and colleagues’ health and safety is maintained.
• Represent CRNS in a professional and responsible manner.

Generous Pension Scheme (employer will pay 12% if employee pays 6%). Generous Holiday Allowance with 32 days allowance for full time staff plus 6 bank holidays.
