Role
We are seeking an experienced RF Hardware Design Engineer, ideally with space or aeronautical segment experience, to work on the integration and maturation of airborne and ground based RF systems for the Orbex Prime launch vehicle.
Background
You will have earned at least a Bachelor's degree electrical engineering and have several years of experience in space or aeronautical radio communications technology and implementation. You will be able to work independently and take responsibility for designing and delivering robust, lightweight radio communications systems.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
• Hardware procurement, qualification, integration and test
• Supporting radio license acquisition from governing authorities with technical inputs
• Unit- and system-level test campaigns (beam patterns, performance and environmental)
• Interfacing with external radio ground station operators, to ensure compatibility between their and our systems.
Qualifications
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of RF system design and construction experience
• In-depth understanding of RF physics, impedance matching, filters and isolation techniques
Experience
• Hands-on RF system design and construction
• RF system measurement and test
• RF measurement and test, preferably including work with external test facilities
• Parabolic antennas, ideally including tracking capability
Both airborne and ground based RF transceivers will be SDR based, and you will be cooperating with
colleagues developing SDR software.
We are looking for experienced candidates who can demonstrate they get things done with a pragmatic
attitude and reliable results. Your track record will be very important.

Location
This role is based in Forres at Orbex’s UK engineering and manufacturing headquarters.
Orbex Forres is located at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, near Inverness. It's close to the spectacular coastline, wild beaches and amazing wildlife of the Moray Firth, as well as being a short distance from the world famous Loch Ness, and Aviemore ski resort.
