About Us
Inspired by Pan-African civil rights leader Queen Mother Moore, our founders established Black Cultural Archives in 1981 with a mission to create Britain’s first museum dedicated to representing the culture on history of Black people in Britain. Black Cultural Archives (BCA) is the home of Black British History, a library, archive, gallery, and unique learning and engagement programme. Our collections span almost 2000 years: from African-descent Roman Emperor in Britain Septimius Severus’ coin to our modern archives of Black British culture we collect, preserve and celebrate the histories of people of African and Caribbean Descent. With contemporaneous and new oral testimonies including the Windrush Generation, and objects that illustrate our diaspora culture, we inspire individuals, communities and society.
PURPOSE OF WORK
We are looking for a self-motivated and talented Social Media Officer to manage our social media channels for around 3 months, whilst the organisation transitions through its development phase. In this position, you will create high-quality content that engages our audiences and builds recognition of Black Cultural Archives and the work of the wider team.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with strong technical, presentation and organizational skills. They will be self-motivated and confident to work from home. They will have great initiative and be able to deliver content with direction from the team.
This role is supported by the Cultural Recovery Fund.
