Role
We are looking for a CAD Technician/Engineer for a varied role which will be responsible for assisting our engineering teams by creating accurate and detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of components and assemblies of both launch vehicle and ground segment equipment.

This role would suit a candidate looking for an interesting role in what could be a new industry for you, which offers early responsibility and big rewards. We are looking for the right person to join our team, so all levels of experience will be considered.

Responsibilities
•Following instruction from the engineering teams, create accurate and detailed 3D models of components and assemblies of both launch vehicle and ground segment equipment, including tooling and test fixtures
•Work closely with the Structures, Avionics and Propulsion teams to help ensure that the launch vehicle master CAD definition available in the Product Data Management system is up to date at all times
•Create 2D drawings of components and assemblies to support production and/or procurement
•Support in population and maintenance of BOM and Mass track

Qualifications and Skills
•Highly proficient SOLIDWORKS CAD user
•A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
•A methodical, thorough and organised approach to work
•Good communication skills both written and verbal combined with the ability to work well in a team
•Educated to HNC, HND, Bachelor Degree or equivalent level in a technical field
•Strong listening skills with the ability to rapidly assimilate information
•Adaptable and able to work under pressure to tight timescale across multiple work-streams

Experience (Essential)
•2+ Years CAD experience in a technical engineering environment

Experience (Desirable)
•Basic working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
•Familiarity with typical aerospace materials and associated manufacturing processes ideally including advanced composites
•Exposure to an aerospace, defence, space or motor sport project environment
•Experience in CAD-CAM activities

Location
This role is based in Forres at Orbex’s UK engineering and manufacturing headquarters.
