Job title: Interim Service Manager (Prisons) – Maternity Cover
Reports to: Head of Justice Programmes
Direct reports: Prison, housing, domestic abuse and health advocacy staff
Start date: TBC – subject to successful MOJ prison vetting
Salary: FTE £42,989 per annum (inclusive of £3,990 Southeast weighting)
Working hours: Full time – 35 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term until 31 January 2028 (Maternity Cover)
Location: Hybrid HMP Bronzefield
Job Purpose
The Service Manager (Prisons) provides strategic and operational leadership for WIP’s prison-based services, primarily at HMP Bronzefield. The postholder is responsible for high-quality, trauma-responsive service delivery, effective staff management, strong partnerships, safeguarding, performance and delivery against contractual and organisational objectives.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Lead and take accountability for the effective operational delivery and ongoing development of WIP’s prison-based services.
- Provide effective leadership and management to staff, fostering a positive, inclusive, supportive and accountable team culture.
- Maintain oversight of quality, safeguarding, risk, performance and client care across prison-based services.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with prisons, probation and other relevant agencies to ensure coordinated support for women.
- Represent WIP and advocate for the needs and experiences of women affected by the criminal justice system.
- Monitor outcomes, outputs and contractual requirements, using data, feedback and learning to demonstrate impact and improve services.
